The eddy covariance (EC) method was used in a 30‐month study to quantify evapotranspiration (ET) and vegetation coefficient (KCW) for a wetland on a ranch in subtropical south Florida. To evaluate the errors in ET estimates, the EC‐based ET (ETC‐EC) and the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) Penman–Monteith (PM) based ET (ETC‐PM) estimates (with literature crop coefficient, KC) were compared with each other. The ETC‐EC and FAO‐PM reference ET were used to develop KCW. Regression models were developed to estimate KCW using climatic and hydrologic variables. Annual and daily ETC‐EC values were 1152 and 3.27 mm, respectively. The FAO‐PM model underestimated ET by 25% with ETC‐EC being statistically higher than ETC‐PM. The KCW varied from 0.79 (December) to 1.06 (November). The mean KCW for the dry (November–April) season (0.95) was much higher than values reported for wetlands in literature; whereas for the wet (May–October) season, KCW (0.97) was closer to literature values. Higher than expected KCW values during the dry season were due to higher temperature, lower humidity and perennial wetland vegetation. Regression analyses showed that factors affecting the KCW were different during the dry (soil moisture, temperature and relative humidity) and wet (net radiation, inundation and wind speed) seasons. Separate regression models for the dry and wet seasons were developed. Evapotranspiration and KCW from this study, one of the first for the agricultural wetlands in subtropical environment, will help improve the ET estimates for similar wetlands. The Dibru river basin of Assam is investigated to examine the influence of active structure by applying an integrated study on geomorphology, morphotectonics, subsurface structure, Digital Elevation Model (DEM) using topographic map, IRS 1D LISS III, IRS P6 LISS III, SRTM, seismic and subsurface data. Seismic data reveals existence of an upwarp and an important fault in the basement around the central and eastern parts of the Dibru basin, respectively. The influence of these structures is well observed on all the younger formations inferring their active nature possibly till the Recent Period. Existence of fluvial anomalies, viz. annular drainage pattern, lineaments, abrupt changes in the direction of river course, beheaded stream and valley incision infer role of structural control on the fluvial features of this basin. Most commonly used indices for morphotectonic analysis, viz. basin elongation ratio (Re), transverse topographic symmetry (T), asymmetric factor (AF), valley floor width to valley height ratio (Vf) have been used to identify the evidences of active structures in the area. The values of Re indicated tectonically active, T indicated an asymmetric nature, AF indicated tilting and Vf indicated active incision in the Dibru basin. The DEM, profiles across the valley and superimposed longitudinal profiles of incised channel bed and valley shoulder of the Dibru clearly reveal valley incision by the river. Three large paleochannels located in different parts of the basin had their headwaters towards east at the common source, i.e. the Diyun river. These paleochannels had been resulted when their headwaters avulsed to create new rivers due to affect of the subsurface structures during Recent (or perhaps Neogene?) Period.  相似文献

Representative Concentration Pathway 6.0 (RCP6) is a pathway that describes trends in long-term, global emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs), short-lived species, and land-use/land-cover change leading to a stabilisation of radiative forcing at 6.0 Watts per square meter (Wm?2) in the year 2100 without exceeding that value in prior years. Simulated with the Asia-Pacific Integrated Model (AIM), GHG emissions of RCP6 peak around 2060 and then decline through the rest of the century. The energy intensity improvement rates changes from 0.9% per year to 1.5% per year around 2060. Emissions are assumed to be reduced cost-effectively in any period through a global market for emissions permits. The exchange of CO2 between the atmosphere and terrestrial ecosystem through photosynthesis and respiration are estimated with the ecosystem model. The regional emissions, except CO2 and N2O, are downscaled to facilitate transfer to climate models.  相似文献

The heat wave affecting Europe during summer of 2003 is analyzed in detail with observational and reanalysis data. Surface, middle and upper troposphere analysis reveal particular circulation patterns related to an atmospheric blocking condition. In general seasonal anomalies, like this intense heat wave, are strongly related to boundary conditions. Composites and empirical orthogonal functions analysis provide evidence for an organized structure in the sea surface temperature (SST) anomaly field: high SSTs in the Mediterranean basin, the North Sea and further north toward the Arctic Circle were observed mainly in the months of June and August. The outcome of this analysis on observational data shows the SST as one of the possible factors in enhancing the heat wave in the European area.  相似文献

The nonlinear properties of electron acoustic waves in a magnetized plasma consisting of hot electrons, hot ions, and cold electrons are investigated. Using a fluid-guiding center model for the cold electrons and Boltzmann distributions for the hot species, a set of nonlinear mode-coupling equations is derived. Monopole and dipole-vortex solutions are shown to exist for the system of nonlinear equations. Spectrum cascade by mode-coupling in the electron acoustic wave turbulence is investigated. Relevance of our investigation to broadband electrostatic noise (BEN) in the geomagnetic tail is discussed.  相似文献

We present an analysis of observations and theory of selected transition-region phenomena, concentrating on small scale jet-like structures known as spicules and macrospicules. We examine a number of mechanisms that may be responsible for their formation and conclude that Alfvén waves could provide the necessary acceleration through the ponderomotive force and dissipation for heating forming a beam or jet like structure. In applying the Alfvén wave model we make no fundamental distinction between spicules and macrospicules. In this respect we consider them to be manifestations of the same phenomenon on different scales. We predict that the most effective Alfvén waves have frequencies around 1 Hz and amplitudes of 1 V m–1. The resulting plasma jet sets up plasma conditions suitable for creating rotating structures which are also observed.  相似文献

Carbon isotope (δ13C) and rare earth element (REE) concentrations in representative samples of the shallow marine Subathu Formation, explored from the Neelkanth and Dogadda sections of Northwestern Himalaya (India) were determined to infer the palaeo-environmental condition during the late Paleocene and middle Eocene. δ13C values show variation of ~5.0‰ with maximum excursion (?27.34‰) in calcareous sandstone at the basal part and minimum (?22‰) in red shale towards the terminal end. Total REE concentration varies (due to lithology) from 27.23?ppm to 564.35?ppm with an average of 187.60?ppm. The chondrite and PAAS normalized patterns exhibit positive Ce anomaly (0.95–4.45), enriched LREE, and depleted HREE, medium Y/Ho ratio (~30–45) along with positive correlation between Y/Dy and Y/Ho ratio. In addition, calcite veins present in some shale samples indicate redox sensitive trace elements. The overall REE abundance and distribution suggests highly oxygenated environment under the shallow marine regressive phase of deposition. The depositional setting, biostratigraphical constrained age along with δ13C values and lower TOC suggested an intense warm period, that might be coeval with the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maxima event (PETM).  相似文献

The present study examines the potential of infrared sounder observations from Indian geostationary satellite INSAT-3D for the estimation of total column integrated ozone over the tropical Indian region. A dataset with diverse profiles was used to create training and testing datasets using forward simulations from a radiative transfer model for infrared sounder channels. A study was carried out for the standard tropical atmospheric profile to examine the sensitivity of ozone band radiance corresponding to the atmospheric temperature, water vapour, and ozone mixing ratios at different atmospheric pressure levels. Further, statistical retrieval technique has been used for the total column ozone estimation using two different approaches: (i) ozone channel observation along with the a-priori estimate of temperature and water vapour profile and (ii) only sounder channels observations. The accuracy of the retrieval algorithms was examined for different errors in the atmospheric profiles for the method (i) and different sensor noise specification for the method (ii). This study has shown that accurate temperature information is very important for ozone estimation and lower instrument noise results in better ozone estimates.  相似文献

The present study purports the analysis of total electron content (TEC, which is one of the major ionosphere anomalies during the earthquake), sea surface temperature (SST) and outgoing long-wave radiation (OLR) during the earthquake event recorded on 10 March 2013 (M = 6.5). Global assimilative ionosphere modelled output TEC values have been used for this present study; the clear signature of TEC during the recorded earthquake has been noticed (i.e. increase in TEC 60–70 TECU during the event). The correlation between the magnitude and location of earthquake with TEC is around 0.9, and the least correlation between SST and OLR is due to concerned atmospheric effects; we tried to study the variations of SST and OLR prior during and after the event from Kalpana satellite image products archived by IMD.  相似文献

Alaknanda river basin is considered to be tectonically active where damaging earthquakes and landslides have occurred. The whole basin was divided into 8 sub-basins to carry out morphometric analyses, hypsometric integral (HI) analysis and valley floor width to valley height ratio (V f) factor. The sub-basins 2 and 3 show that they are highly active, because of the higher values of bifurcation ratio, stream frequency asymmetric factor, and lower values of form factor, elongation ratio and circulatory ratio. In these areas, HI values are very low indicating that the landscape is highly eroded, deeply dissected and tectonically active. The result obtained from V f was similar which classified both these basins as highly active. Morphometric analysis, HI and V f analyses along with structural map of study area are used to prepare morpho-tectonic map classifying the whole area into very high, high, moderate and low zones of tectonic activity. This map clearly indicates that the areas near MCT II (Munsiari Thrust), MCT III (Ramgarh Thrust) and North Almora Thrust are tectonically very active which fall in sub-basins 2, 3, 4 and parts of 5. Various locations such as Chamoli, Birahi, Pipalkoti, Rudraprayag, etc. are situated in these zones where many earthquakes and landslides occur every year. Moreover, the data plotted for earthquakes and landslides occurrences are consistent with morpho-tectonic map and can be used as a precursor for demarcation of natural hazard vulnerable zones.  相似文献
